Here at Weekend Casual, the desire to merge commerce with charitable giving to affect positive change is woven into the very fabric of our mission statement. In light of the recent tragedy in Nepal, we will donate 100% of our proceeds from May 1-5 to aid in the rebuilding efforts of thousands of families struggling to find clean water, shelter, and medical attention.
Additionally, we plan to work with one of our charitable partners, Ekal Vidalaya, to help provide short term aid to those in need, as well as assist in the long term revitalization of villages and infrastructure. Together we can make a difference.
Remember "at the end of the day, we love that your dollars are going into something a little more significant than our bottom line."
The Weekend Casual family thanks you for your continued support.
Below is an email sent to WC directly from the Ekal Vidyalaya foundation describing what they see on a ground level in Nepal, enlisting all of us to help:
"The massive earthquake that hit Nepal has inflicted massive damage in hundreds villages in four Ekal school districts - Pokhara, Navalprasi, Gandaki and Baghmati. Shyam Ji Gupta, the leader of the Ekal movement happened to be in Nepal when the tragedy struck and was shocked to witness the magnitude of loss of human life and the destruction of infrastructure. While the devastation in urban areas of Nepal is tragic, the need in rural areas is even greater as there is minimal focus in these regions. He has pleaded for urgent help to be given to these villages where access has also become a major cause for concern.
In order to address the short term needs of people in these devastated Ekal villages, urgent funding for providing blankets, tents, food, water and medicines is needed. Shyam Ji is in close contact with the Ekal volunteers in Nepal to ensure your donations will reach the needy. The Ekal office in Delhi (India) has already contacted the Indian Air Force to provide free transportation for items to be sent to Kathmandu for the earthquake relief. Ekal volunteers in Nepal will collect these donated items and distribute them to those most in need. The next step will be to rebuild the homes and infrastructure in these villages. Your generous donations to help this great humanitarian cause will go a long way in rebuilding the lives of the survivors of this catastrophic event.
The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA is requesting you to donate generously for helping the earthquake impacted Ekal villagers in Nepal. Proper use of your generous donations will be closely monitored to ensure that it reaches the needy. All donors will receive charitable tax deductible receipt for their donations."
Your Weekend Casual family thanks you in advance.
